On A Monday was recorded at the start of 2008, while the decision to leave England was skirting around my periphery. It's probably the least cohesive record I've made, with darker tunes like Oh Safia and Don't Expect Me To Be Gentle sitting uncomfortably alongside the ode to a period of joblessness that is On A Monday. It was during the recording of drums for They Don't Need Love that I gave myself tinnitus, and the drum part never even got used so that was for nothing.
